FAIRPARK RESERVE

Public BBQ

Fairpark Reserve anchors Ferntree Gully's sporting community with a well-maintained oval where weekend footballers compete and spectators gather for canteen comfort food served by friendly volunteers. The reserve sprawls across multiple recreation zones: basketball courts, a substantial playground (notably unfenced), and convenient bike repair facilities beside the Blind Creek cycling trail. Birdwatchers frequent the area for rosellas, king parrots, and parakeets, though magpies demand caution during nesting season. The playground equipment entertains various ages, featuring circular swings better suited to older children, while dual parking areas ease match-day congestion. Public toilets serve visitors, though cleanliness varies. Blind Creek meanders alongside, its crossings popular with children, but overgrowth and occasional rubbish detract from the otherwise scenic backdrop. The oval itself shows wear, requiring attention to weeds and patchy turf. Glass fragments appear periodically near the creek trail, requiring vigilance. Despite maintenance gaps, the reserve delivers comprehensive facilities that make it a valued neighbourhood gathering spot.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
